Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist

You will serve as a Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist with National Park Service. This position is located in the Administration & Youth Programs Division of Yellowstone National Park. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 night per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. GS-11 Salary: $74,678 (Step 01) to $97,087 (Step 10). First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

• Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Supervises multiple full-time staff and through them manage the work of the Property and Supply Branch including support functions for the park - the Mailroom/Copy Center, Supply, and Property. Promotes internal controls and accountability from acquisition/acceptance through distribution, use, and/or proper disposal methods for mail, official records, supplies, materials, equipment, and accountable property used throughout the park by over 700 NPS staff. Serves as the Park Property Manager, coordinating park-wide internal control functions among the park, bureau, department, and GSA staff for central Supply items and over 12,000 formal and informal personal property assets, through the Property Specialist and other staff. Directs the operations of the park Supply Center, stocking and selling over 2,000 items ranging from household items and janitorial supplies to industrial gasses and construction materials. Directs the work of the Mail and File Assistant and Administrative Support Assistant to provide mail, print, and copy services to park divisions and staff to ensure printing, copying, and binding of materials for use in the park comply with copyright laws and U.S. Government Publications Office (GPO) regulations. Develops long-term equipment acquisition, service, and replacement plans for high-capacity printers, copiers, folding and binding machines, and mail meters. Oversees the work of the Management Analyst (Purchasing Facilitator) in providing customer service to program managers in drafting scopes of work and thorough descriptions of good and materials, research sources of supply, and compiles independent government cost estimates for requisitions. Consults with the Regional Office staff in the Northern Rockies Major Acquisition Buying Office (MABO) to efficiently direct the work of the Management Analyst and ensure both the Management Analyst and MABO Contracting Officers jointly provide timely acquisition services to park staff. Spread over 2.2 million acres in the Rocky Mountain region of the country, Yellowstone's elevation varies throughout, ranging from 3,000ft to over 7,000ft above sea level, leading to variable climates and weather patterns across the park. Expect big temperature swings, rain, and even snow during every month of the year. Summer daytime temperatures vary from the 70's to the 90's at lower elevations, and winter temperatures range from the 20's to below zero at night. This position is located in the North District of the park. Park headquarters are located in Mammoth's Historic district, with a large hub of facilities, concessions, and administrative offices, all hosted in buildings from the Army era of Yellowstone. The nearest groceries are available 20 minutes north in Gardiner, MT, and larger big-box stores are located 1.5 hours away in Bozeman, MT. There is an employee rec center and pub. There is a small clinic open year-round in Mammoth. Verizon has the best service available in Mammoth, and in addition to Verizon, both T-Mobile and AT&T have service in Gardiner.
