The Transportation & Grounds (T&G) Supervisor must stay up to date and knowledgeable of Veteran Administration/Veteran Healthcare Administration, Federal, local and state regulations, The Joint Commission standards, Environmental Protection Agency requirements, Department of Transportation, etc. to ensure compliancy at all times and maintain facility readiness for surveys and inspections. Supervises and oversees all functional operations of the T&G Section, employees ranging from WG-03 to WG-08.

  • Major duties include but are not limited to: Provides leadership and direction for all Transportation & Grounds Section operations, ensuring alignment with Engineering Service objectives and Medical Center priorities. Plans, organizes, and schedules daily, weekly, and monthly work assignments; establishes priorities, deadlines, and sequences of operations. Assigns, directs, and oversees work of approximately 12 employees ranging from WG-03 to WG-08, adjusting staff and resources to meet operational needs. Ensures compliance with VA/VHA, Joint Commission, OIG, EPA, DOT, and Federal, state, and local regulations governing transportation, grounds, equipment, and safety operations. Oversees safety compliance and enforces safe working conditions, including conducting and coordinating Safe Driver Training for required personnel. Assists the Chief of Engineering Service in developing, planning, and allocating the operating budget for the Transportation & Grounds Section. Manages section-level budget execution, ensuring proper and compliant use of funds in accordance with VA policies and purchasing regulations. Maintains accountability and security for approximately 106 CMR equipment items valued at $2 million, ensuring accurate inventory, tracking, and control. Conducts quality reviews and operational assessments to ensure readiness for Joint Commission, VACO, and regulatory inspections and surveys. Coordinates section activities with other Engineering Service supervisors and Medical Center departments to ensure efficient workflow and shared resource utilization. Evaluates work quality, monitors costs, identifies trends, and recommends corrective actions to improve efficiency and prevent operational problems. Investigates employee concerns, resolves workplace issues, and supports positive labor-management relations as a supervisory representative. Conducts performance evaluations, identifies training needs, provides coaching, and ensures ongoing staff development and competency. Researches and recommends equipment repairs, replacements, and improvements supporting both short- and long-range operational planning. Participates in continuous performance improvement initiatives related to transportation services, grounds maintenance, and equipment maintenance operations. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work Schedule subject to change based on the needs of the agency.
