Order Picker job description

An order picker pulls cases against a pick list or a voice headset and builds a pallet to a stop sequence, either on foot behind an electric pallet jack or riding a platform up to the pick face. BLS files the picking half of that under stockers and order fillers, an occupation of 2,804,300 jobs in 2025 whose May 2025 median was $37,330, and the equipment half under the industrial truck operator code, where the same month's median reached $46,420. A stand-up picker is a powered industrial truck, so OSHA 1910.178 puts the training and a three-year re-evaluation on the employer. Everything else is picked up on the floor inside a few weeks.
